Hannah Montana

Here you go mummys. This is the amazing young woman that your little girls look up to. Yes. That’s her. Hannah Montana.

It seems to me that all these “angelic little girls” who are so innocent and naive when they first start, all turn out to be, well, the same old no-clothe-wearing tarts. I think that’s just wrong. They start by targetting themselves at little girls, who want to be just like them, then turn all “naughty” as soon as they get a bit of attention. And I don’t think they realise how much of an affect they have on the little girls.

I work with a lot of young children, aging from as low as 4, and it seems that they are obbsessed with Miley Cyrus, aka Hannah Montana. And they all want to be like her. So what’s going to stop them wanting to dress like her as well? Nothing.

I mean look at her, in the picture of her in white, she’s exposing so much, that the website I got the picture from, had to black it out. Charming.

I’ve never liked her, I knew this would happen. Seems like these money hungry divas would do anything to get fame.

Say Bye Bye Bye to Frizz – Really?

So there’s me, trying to find the most up-to-date information on everything hair and beauty, and I come across this.

Apparently, Prof. Robert Langer, from Massachusetts has invented “No Frizz” which has been described as “one of the biggest breakthroughs in the beauty world for decades because it shields hair from the tiny drops of water that causes hair to kink and curl.” (Daily Telegraph)

He also claims that the product will make the hair less greasy, and so you would need to wash it less often.

Prof Langer said: “Most products for frizzy hair rely on silicone which can make hair heavy.” No Frizz is made from a man-made-water (??!!) and oil-repellent, that keeps the hair protected from humidity.

The range of shampoo and conditioners is now on sale in the UK and costs £18 per bottle.

I personally think that all products you put in your hair, just make it more greasy, but hey, we can’t argue ’til we try. But is it worth £18? If you’ve tried it out, let me know!

Ri Ri Going Red

I always try to keep up with what people do to their hair, as I am prone to getting bored of one hairstyle/hair colour if I’ve had it for too long. I guess one person who’s hard to miss is Rihanna. She’s been in the press quite a bit with the whole Chris Brown thing etc etc…and now that she’s going out with Baseball star Matt Kemp, the newspapers (in particular Daily Mail) can’t get enough of her.

Anyway, what I want to concentrate on is her hair. She’s well known for her ever changing hair styles and colours, but this is just hideous in my opinion.

She’s still got the short, one side shaved look going on, but she’s decided to have the longer part red, with the shaved section still dark brown/black. She looks like a bit of a hen, with that red. What do you think?

Eye Lines

This is not my eye, but the lines are similar, and the circles are darker.

This is not my eye, but the lines are similar, and the circles are darker.

Now, I’m only 20 years old, so why am I starting to get lines under my eyes? My eyes look really tired, and I have dark circles, but the thing is, I do get enough sleep. Maybe too much. Or is that the problem? I know all of these symptoms occur when you suffer from a lack of sleep, but I generally get roughly 8/9 hours sleep every night.

I found this on the Guardian Newspaper website: Eye bags are partly down to genes and worsen with age. They may also signal an allergy. Sadly, though, according to the British Association of Dermatologists, nothing has been scientifically proven to reduce them. We do know that they are often caused by fluid retention, and that dehydration might exacerbate this, so increasing your water intake could help.

This calls for a new mission: to find the best cure for tired eyes!

Hair Conditioner

I have come to the conclusion, that the hair conditioner that comes in the Nice and Easy hair colour boxes, is probably the best hair conditioner around. If you’ve tried it, you’ll know what I mean. It smells so lush, and it really leaves your hair feeling so soft and smooth. On top of that, when you apply it, you don’t even need to leave it in long! Love!

Oh How I Have Missed Thee, My Blog!

Wow it has seriously been a long time, and so much has happend in my life. Ups, downs, highs and lows, but nevertheless, I am back. Hopefully, this time to stay! I have just finished university, which I’m actually rather sad about, but at least I can dedicate a lot more time to this. Let’s hope my readers are still out there!

So a little update on how things have been…My final few months of uni were really stressful, and as you can imagine, lots of hard working going on in the library = boredom = lots of junk food = fatty me :( Yes, I have now got a flabby belly, and it needs to be gone by my graduation in July. So what have I done about it? Little at the moment, to be honest! Well I’ve started going to yoga again, and have started to eat a much healthier diet. Will hit the gym to do some hardcore working out soon too. I’m not too worried about losing weight, that’s not an issue, but losing the belly is!

Also, after 9 years of having acne, my doctor FINALLY decided to refer me to a specialist dermatologist. And I am ever so grateful. (I am not going to jinx anything, so I’ll stop right now!!)

Now that I’m back, there’ll be a lot more from me, so stay here!

The Real Pleasures Of Being An Intern

What's new?

Hello!

Rihanna’s Hair Story

Rihanna has gone through some weird and wonderful hair styles, but its clear to see none were really drastic. Her hair has gradually gotten shorter.

Clearly she looks older with the short hair, so I kinda prefer it to the long hair. But not so sure about the side shaved look.

What style is your favourite?

Cheryl Cole Ditching Extensions

I know she did this on X-Factor a little while ago, but I wanted to know what you guys thought of Cheryl Cole’s short hair. After the controversy surrounding the L’Oreal campaign in which she wore extentions to promote how shampoo would improve your hair condition, she got rid of the false locks and is now wearing her hair au natural. Obviously it looks good, anything looks good on this woman.

Should she be praised for admitting she had extensions and then ditching them to show her real hair? I think so! Most celebs would deny it and carry on living a lie. You go Cheryl!

Men And Our Make Up

“Hmmm, is it just our imagination or is it in fact the case that the less men know on a subject, the more vocal and opinionated they are about it?”

Too right! It seems as though guys seem to have so much to say about make up, and how we shouldn’t wear it. I don’t understand why. Most of us girls don’t put make up on for guys, its for ourselves. We feel more confident in it.

Why do guys always say “we prefer you natural” when most of the time, they haven’t seen us natural and probably wouldn’t prefer us if they did! I mean not all of us are born with the perfect look and some times need a little boost from our make up! Obviously there is a limit, and sometimes girls do cross the line and look hideous, but for some of us, its become a habit, and we need to wear it.

Men seem to have something against make up. And it seems as though if they see a pretty girl with make up on, they automatically assume that without it she must look ugly, and say “damn, why is she wearing so much make up?” – How much is “too much” make up?

I’m not speaking for everyone as I know some people do look amazingly beautiful without make up, but for the majority of us who wear it everyday because we’ve become so accustomed to doing so.

Anyway, why do you think guys have such issues with it?

Kim Kardashian’s Quick Trim

This might be old news but it was something I missed and I still see lots of people ending up on my blog whilst searching for an update on Kim Kardashian’s quick trim diet.

In September I put up an article about how Kim Kardashian was on a quick trim diet as she felt she needed to shape up. She confirmed on twitter a couple of weeks ago that she is not at her desired weight and shape.

She’s put up these pictures on her official website/blog with this message: “Khloe and I flew to Miami to film a Quick Trim commercial. The beach was so beautiful and we were having such a great time enjoying the sand and sun. I can’t wait to show you guys this commercial. I Twittered one of these pics last week, but I wanted to share the rest with you guys here. I really feel like I have reached myfitness goal and now I am toned, fit and at a healthy weight and I just need to keep it up!”

A lot of people commented on her picture that it looked photoshopped, but I’m not sure. Maybe she did stick to her diet and maybe it did work. I think she looks good! I’d love a stomach like that! Khloe on the other hand is just very manly!

What do we think of her shape now compared to before?

It's All In The Chemistry

How Low Can You Go?

A former Miss Argentina (1994) died this week following complications involving plastic surgery to enlarge her buttocks. WTF I hear you say. I agree!

Apparently the surgeries involving buttock enlargements are rare, but are picking up. Many people who want this often go abroad to get it done – as certified surgeries will not allow it. I find this rather disturbing. It’s dangerous.

‘Solange Magnano (pictured right), a 38-year-old model and mother of twins, remained in critical condition with acute respiratory deficiency for three days after her surgery in Buenos Aires, according to The Associated Press. Her friend Roberto Piazza told the AP that the procedure involved injections and the liquid “went to her lungs and brain.”‘ (ABC News)

Magnano died last Sunday of a pulmonary embolism (is a blockage of the main artery of the lung or one of its branches by a substance that has travelled from elsewhere in the body through the bloodstream), officials announced.

Hair Cuts

I was looking through pictures of myself when I got a really short bob  (went through the phase of copying Rihanna – why oh why) and it occured to me that I cut it in January 2008 – and from then I hadn’t cut my hair until this month – thats a year and 11 months! After I  got the bob, I got really upset that my hair had gone and promised myself to let it grow a decent length before I touched it again. It did take a long time to grow, but I finally got there – even through all the split ends – and now I feel like cutting it again!

Anyway, through all this, Iwould colour my hair a lot and it still managed to look healthy – suprisingly.

When you go to get your haircut, hairdressers always tell you to come back in four – eight weeks if you want healthy looking hair – but mine seemed to look okay for 23 months…

How long have you gone without cutting your hair?

Mac Going Gaga For Gaga

Mac have revealed that whacky dresser and singer Lady Gaga will be the new face of their brand. She joins a star-studded line-up of A-listers who have posed for the brand, including the likes of Fergie and Mary J Blige.

She will be advertising the “From Our Lips” campaign which is set to launch in February 2010 , in which she will be designing her own lipstick for the line. Hmm, I wonder what the shade will be. Black? White?!

It will be called Viva Glam Gaga Lipstick with 100% of profits going to charity. At least there’s some good coming from it.

Yoga

We all know how important it is to exercise, but with our busy lifestyles, most of us just cannot be bothered. The long days at work or at school/college/university make us feel so exhausted that when  you get home, you just want to relax.

So how can we exercise without putting too much energy, and relax ourselves at the same time? Yoga! Yoga not only exercises your body, but your mind and soul aswell. It has also been well known to de-stress you as the concentration required during a yoga session helps take your mind away from daily stresses. And when you are a little bit more relaxed,  you’re more likely to sleep better, and wake up feeling fresher.

Yoga is also good for your body. Yoga consists of many poses which require physical flexibility and to stretch your muscles which increase your overall range of motion.

At 40, Jennifer Aniston still looks great, and she’s admitted that it’s thanks to yoga. ‘It’s completely changed my life,’ said Jen on the introduction of Yogalosophy, the new fitness DVD from her yoga teacher and long-time friend Mandy Ingber. ‘It’s one of the most fun workouts I’ve ever had. So work hard, because it will totally pay off.’

I used to go once a week every week a while ago, but due to lack of time, I haven’t been in ages. I would love to get back into it as it really did make me feel so much better on a friday night and prepared me for a peaceful weekend.
